Hey everybody... obviously I am only speakin to myself cuz at this point i dont think anyone has even accidentally linked themselves to this blog.
So we have been gone for about 2 weeks. We were in Japan. What a great country. We stayed in Tokyo for a week, then around the Kansai region which included Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Kobe. Tokyo is one big shopping district. If you arent actively lookin for anything to buy, it can get boring. I'm not saying there was nothing to see in Tokyo, it was the same great sights about everywhere. The first day we spent in Ikebukuro. The place we stayed at was "Kimi Ryokan" It was pretty nice. It had a curfew of 1AM. Not too bad. Rooms are just big enough for two and your luggage. It had the tatami mats, which were comfortable. They even provided a yukata set for each person. There was shared private bathroom and showers on each floor. So I've been planning this trip for a long time. I bought guidebooks to select places to go... so for Ikebukuro we had planned Sunshine City, a big mall like building with a theme park inside. We had no idea how far it would be from our place and thought we could take the opportunity to learn how to use the subway/train system. Turns out, it was closer than we thought. What looked like several blocks, only took a few minutes. On my itinerary, i also included Bic Camera, a big electronics department store, Tobu and Seibu, Tokyo's "largest" department stores. First Bic Camera, sure it was nice to see the nice electronics such as the new laptops and cell phones, but if you arent going to buy anything it was a short trip. Next, Tobu. Ha we aimed to see the famed depachika (crap i always forget if its depachika or depachiko) It was awesome. Its a basement level supermarket. You'll find restuarants, fruits & vegetables, displayed meats and pastries, full of people. All of the workers greet you and try to get your attention to sample from their counters. We spent enough time there that we lost interest to check out the rest of the department, and for the rest of the trip, we still havent.
I'll continue this later
